Purpose of the Placement Tests
The placement test used at Ramapo College of New Jersey is ACCUPLACER Online developed by The College Board. The purpose of taking ACCUPLACER placement tests is to identify students' academic strengths and needs so that they can plan an appropriate schedule of course work. ACCUPLACER will give students information about their skills in writing, reading, and mathematics, and will indicate what level they need to begin their college studies. ACCUPLACER is administered online in a proctored testing lab at Ramapo College. Test results and course placements will be given to students after completing the test. Test results are valid for three years after date of test. The use of hand-held calculators is prohibited.
Who Must Take ACCUPLACER Placement Tests?
- All first-year students whose SAT-Critical Reading scores are below 550
- All first-year students whose SAT-Mathematics scores are below 560
