Mission and Goals
The office of Institutional Effectiveness Research and Planning (IERP) serves all segments of the College community (including faculty, staff, students, administration, and trustees), the wider higher education community, and the general public. IERP serves the College community by collecting, analyzing, and disseminating information required for planning and evaluation. The latter two populations are served by IERP through its external reporting functions.
The mission of the office of Institutional Effectiveness Research and Planning (IERP) is to conduct a program of institutional research designed to both inform campus planning and evaluation activities and to satisfy public demands for accountability. The unit’s objectives are to prepare both routine and special reports containing information useful to campus and external audiences. In carrying out these responsibilities, IERP:
- creates and maintains longitudinal databases related to students, alumni, academic programs, and personnel;
- conducts periodic environmental scans;
- gathers information on involvement, satisfaction, and institutional outcomes from current students, alumni, and staff using both survey and focus group methodology;
- assesses the academic preparedness of entering freshmen and transfer students.
