Readings in Humanities An essential part of the General Education Program, the 200 level Readings in Humanities course addresses the objectives of the General Education Program by providing an opportunity to “grasp the complex nature of social, political and psychological issues in the twenty-first century.”
Course Description An introduction to recurrent themes found in major texts by authors who have produced distinctive ideas about human existence. The readings move from ancient philosophy and literature, medieval works, and the Renaissance, to modern works that address the human condition. The course will enhance students’ appreciation of the ways historical, philosophical, and cultural narratives found in diverse genres of literature have helped enrich our understanding of the human experience.
