A Message from the Dean

The Anisfield School of Business is an organization on the move.  We are committed to the mission of producing future generations of responsible, effective business leaders, and we believe that in order to succeed in this mission we must continually improve and evolve to meet the ever changing needs of the global economy.

As the largest of the five schools of Ramapo College of New Jersey, with current enrollment of over 1200 students, the Anisfield School of Business offers majors or concentrations in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Systems, International Business, Marketing, and Management.  Students may also pursue minors in Economics, Information Systems, and International Business.  We have 34 full-time faculty, all of whom hold advanced degrees in their teaching and research areas.  In addition, many of our faculty members are seasoned practitioners who bring a wealth of business insight and experience to the classroom.

In 2006 the business school received the largest single gift in the history of Ramapo College.  The gift, from Richard and Millicent Anisfield, resulted in a name change for the school and facilitated the construction of a new academic building to house the business school, the nursing program and the Marge Roukema Center for International Education.   In the fall of 2007, we moved into our new home which offers state-of-the-art classrooms, lecture halls, computer labs, study lounges, meeting rooms and an email lounge. 

Our location in Northern New Jersey, close to New York City, and our strong relationships with the surrounding business community create an abundance of opportunities for our students to gain valuable business experience while still in undergraduate school.  Frequent on-campus programs involving our business partners, co-op and internship assignments, and full and part-time employment are among the many opportunities available to students to add further  real-world depth and perspective to the foundational learning that takes place in the classroom.

The last few years have seen some exciting changes and accomplishments in the school of business.  In 2005, the faculty and administration committed themselves and the school to the task of attaining accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).  Achieving this accreditation would place the Anisfield School of Business among the elite business schools in the world.  In December of 2007, our Accreditation Plan was approved.   Having achieved this important milestone, we hope to realize our goal of AACSB accreditation within the next few years.

These next few years promise to be just as exciting as the last few as we strive to fulfill our vision statement: “….  to be the premier public undergraduate business school in the greater New Jersey/New York metropolitan area, whose graduates will actively and responsibly engage in shaping the future”.  If you would like to learn more about our school, or share your ideas, skills or other resources to further our vision, please contact me.
