RICH MARTIN - Head Coach 

Rich Martin enters his eighth year as head coach of the Roadrunner Baseball program. Coach Martin brings a wealth of baseball experience and a long history of baseball tradition with him to the Mahwah campus. He holds an impressive 368-309-1 overall coaching record (.544 winning percentage) and for seven years, served as head baseball coach at Division I, Hofstra University where he stands as the winningest coach in the history of the University. In 1993 he led his team to the East Coast Conference Championship and in 1995 recorded a school-best 27 victories and notched his 200th career victory. The following year, his team led the North Atlantic Conference in batting, home runs and runs scored. He also coached 39 players who signed professional baseball contracts and graduated 93% of his players at the university. After the 2002 season senior Shaun Burstein signed a contract with the St. Louis Cardinals and senior Jason Valloni with the New Jersey Jackals. Prior to his time at Hofstra, Coach Martin spent five years as Head Coach at Dominican College in Orangeburg, NY. At Dominican, Coach Martin developed the program from its inception to the point where it became NAIA District 31 champions and Region 8 runner-up for four straight years. For his efforts and achievements, Coach Martin was named the NAIA District 31 Coach of the Year in 1986, 1987, 1988 and 1989 and was a finalist for the NAIA National Coach of the Year in 1986, 1988 and 1989. While at Dominican, Martin produced four NAIA All-Americans, 21 NAIA Honorable Mention All-Americans, 36 All-District 31 and All-Region 8 players.

Before his time at Dominican, Martin served as Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach at New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, NY from 1972-73. He then coached the varsity basketball team at Bishop Loughlin High School, also in Brooklyn for two seasons and the junior varsity basketball team for three seasons. In 1977 he also took over the head coaching duties of the varsity baseball team, a position he held until 1984.

Coach Martin also spends his time as the owner and director for the Rich Martin All-Star Baseball Camp, which he started in 1980. Coach Martin's camp is nationally recognized as the standard for teaching the game of baseball to young people. The camp is run annually for boys ages 7-17 while some of the greatest names in baseball attend weekly to act as instructors including, Tommy LaSorda, Al Leiter, Keith Hernandez, Mariano Rivera and El Duque. In the summer of 2006, Ramapo College will have the pleasure of hosting Coach Martin's camp for the sixth time. Martin, who holds a bachelor's degree (1982) from Brooklyn College, also served as Youth Services Coordinator for the Office of the Mayor for the City of New York from 1980 to 1990.
Victor Rosario - Assistant Coach
Entering his eighth year as an assistant on Coach Martin's staff, Coach Rosario was a former player for Martin at Dominican College.

Rosario has continued to surround himself with baseball since his days as a player. For seven years he served as an assistant coach at both Dominican College and Mercy College. He formerly served as an Associated Scout for the Florida Marlins, performing evaluations on New York, New Jersey and Connecticut players and is a baseball advisor for All Hallows High School, Bronx, NY and a coach at In The Swing Baseball Academy in Waldwick, NJ.

Coach Rosario is also the Assistant Camp Director of the All-Star Baseball Camp that is held for seven weeks at Ramapo College.  

A graduate of Dominican College, Coach Rosario is a District Manager for Chrysler in Orangeburg, NY.

 Jan Koslowsky - Pitching Coach

Jan Koslowsky enters his seventh year as the Roadrunner pitching coach.
 
Koslowsky is a 6’5 left handed pitcher out of Forest Hills High School, 1990-1994. In the 1993 season Koslowsky was named to the All-City Team. By his senior year scouts from the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros were looking at his 7-1 record and 1.97 ERA. Also for three years, 1990-1993, he played in the Bayside Yankees and Long Island Tigers Organizations. Immediately after graduating high school he was invited to the Yankees spring training camps but due to unfortunate injuries, Koslowsky’s career was shortened.

Koslowsky moved on to attend Concordia College in Bronxville, NY on scholarship. He graduated in 1999 with a degree in Business Management. In addition, he was a member of the All-Star Baseball Camp staff and the pitching coach of the All-Star Baseball team in 2000-2001.
Tom Topolski - Assistant Coach
topolski.jpgRamapo alumni Tom Topolski will enter his second year as an assistant.  A 2003 graduate of Ramapo College, Coach Topolski earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature.  He currently is employed at Bergen County Special Services.

While playing at Ramapo, Coach Topolski was named a part of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Honorable Mention Team in 2001 as an outfielder, and was named co-captain of the Ramapo team for his senior year in 2002.  After graduating from college, Topolski took the reigns of the Bergen Black Sox for two years and joined the coaching staff at Midland Park High School as an assistant for one year.

Coach Topolski resides in Wyckoff, NJ.
