JACKSON ELECTED USTFCCCA ATLANTIC REGION REPRESENTATIVE

Phoenix, AZ:  Head Coach Mike Jackson was recently elected as Atlantic Region Representative  at the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Convention which took place on December 16-20, 2007.  As region representative, Jackson is the point person for the Atlantic region, which covers all Division III programs in New Jersey and New York. Coach Jackson was voted unanimously by his peers and will serve a three year term.

SEASON REVIEW

The Ramapo College Men’s Cross Country team saw much success in 2007 under the direction of fourth year Head Coach Mike Jackson. They opened the year at the Seawolves Invitational at Stony Brook University where they finished 7th overall. The Roadrunners were the only Division III team to run the nine-team race.  Sophomore Kyle Price had the highest finish in the 6K race for the Roadrunners placing 35th overall in 19:10.7.  Sophomore Jon Lindenauer finished 38th crossing the finish line in 19:15.11. On September 8th the Roadrunners traveled to the Fordham Cross Country Invitational where they placed 12th overall in the field of 22 teams, majority from the Division I and II level.  Junior Steve Logan crossed the finish line first for the Roadrunners in 78th place overall, running in 29:02.  Price came in right behind in 29:03 for 79th place. The Roadrunners traveled to Van Cortlandt Park for the NYU Cross Country Invitational on September 15th where they 13th overall.  Once again the team as led by Logan who placed 68th overall out of 254 runners.  The Roadrunners placed 5th overall at the Stevens Invitational on September 21st before heading to the Paul Short Invitational where they placed 16th.  The team earned a 16th once again at the Albany Invite on October 13th as Logan by placing 62nd overall in 26:53.3.  They traveled to the 2007 NJAC Cross Country Championships in Pomona, NJ hosted by Richard Stockton College on Saturday October 27th.  There, the Roadrunners placed 4th overall posting a total time of 2:17:55.10. Logan led all Roadrunners placing 15th overall in 27:11.26 while Lindenauer and Daniel Gomez placed 17th and 19th respectively clocking in at 27:13.86 and 27:33.35 respectively.  Andrew Capizzi earned 22nd place and Glen Liszczak crossed the finish line in 26th.  Capizzi clocked in at 27:38.01 while Liszczak ran in 28:18.61.  Michael Kennedy ran in the top 30 clocking in at 29:36.70 in the 8k run.  At the 2007 NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Cross-Country Championships on November 11th, the Roadrunners earned 22nd place.  Logan again led all Roadrunners crossing the finish line in 26:19.9 in the 8,000-meter event.

The Roadrunners return all but two to their 2008 roster. Congratulations and good luck to seniors, Daniel Gomez and Glen Liszczak!
