JACKSON ELECTED USTFCCCA ATLANTIC REGION REPRESENTATIVE
Phoenix, AZ: Head Coach Mike Jackson was recently elected as Atlantic Region Representative at the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association(USTFCCCA) Convention which took place on December 16-20, 2007. As regionrepresentative, Jackson is the point person for the Atlantic region, which coversall Division III programs in New Jersey and New York. Coach Jackson was votedunanimously by his peers and will serve a three year term.
2007WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY SEASON REVIEW
The Ramapo College Women’s Cross Country team saw much success in 2007 under the direction of fourth year Head Coach Mike Jackson. They opened the year at the Seawolves Invitational at Stony Brook University where the women finished 6th overall as the only Division III team to run in the event. Junior Amy Carlson crossed the finish line first for the Roadrunners in 18:15.75, good enough for 33rd place in the 4.3K race. Rookie Carlin Keil came in right behind in 18:20.35 for a 34th placing. On September 8th the Roadrunners traveled to the Fordham Invitational. The women placed 15th overall in a field of 23 competing schools, majority from the Division I and II level. Keil continued to place for the Roadrunners finishing 75th overall in a field of 233 women runners. Carlson placed 84th overall in 21:31. The Roadrunners traveled to Van Cortlandt Park for the NYU Cross Country Invitational where as a team they earned 11th overall. Carlson once again led all Roadrunners in the 6,000-meter race running in 24:41.9. The :ady Roadrunners placed 5th overall at the 2007 Steven's Invitational. This time, Gabrielle Tracey, who placed 5th in 29:13 in the 6k run, led all Roadrunners. Chelsea Wolf ran in 31:53 for an 11th place and Janel Stedtler and Dorothy Bagley clocked in at 33:40 and 33:50 respectively. The Lady Roadrunners earned a 26th place finish at the Paul Short Invitational where Carlson placed 10th overall in the 6,000-meter run. The team then earned a 20th place at the 2007 University of Albany Invitational held in Albany, NY. Carlson ran a personal best at 19:46.5 placing 91st overall. The team traveled to Pomona, NJ for the 2007 NJAC Cross Country Championships hosted by Richard Stockton College on Saturday, October 27th. The women placed 4thoverall. Carlson, who placed 10th, and Linda Putasecca, who placed 12th overall, led the team. Kristen Braun placed 17th and Keil placed 23rd for the team. Ramapo wrapped up the 2007 season at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals earning a 19th placing as a team. Carlson led the Roadrunners once again running in 23:53.2 in the 6k.
The Roadrunners return all but one to thier 2008 roster. Congratulations and good luck to Briane Jacob!
