2007 WOMEN'S SOCCER
SEASON REVIEW
11-9-1 OVERALL 3-5-1 NJAC

The Ramapo College women’s soccer team recorded one of their most successful seasons under the direction of Head Coach Arnie Ramirez in 2007.  The Lady Roadrunners concluded the season at 11-9-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the NJAC, just short of the NJAC Championship Tournament.

The Roadrunners opened the year on the road at SUNY Purchase where they picked up their first win of the season, a 3-2 victory. They earned a 12-0 win over Lancaster Bible before falling 1-2 in overtime to SUNY New Paltz. The Roadrunners traveled to the Oneonta Tournament where they shutout Hartwick, 2-0, before falling to the host Oneonta, 0-8.  Back at home against FDU-Florham, the Roadrunners posted a shut out victory over the Devils, 3-0 before going down a two game skid. They fell to NJAC foe The College of NJ, 0-5, and lost a non-conference match-up to Farmingdale, 1-2.  Ramapo fought back to earn conference wins over New Jersey City at home, 8-2, and Rutgers Newark, 2-0. The Roadrunners then traveled to NJAC rival William Paterson and picked up a close 2-1 victory improving their record to 7-4 overall.  On September 29th, the Roadrunners hosted NJAC rival Kean University, where the teams wrapped up September with a tie, 0-0, in double overtime.  Ramapo picked up two non-conference shutouts to open October, first over Manhattanville, 1-0, and then the College of Staten Island, 6-0. They followed with two close games against conference foes Rowan and Stockton, 0-1 and 2-3 respectively.  The Roadrunners picked up another non-conference win over CCNY, 15-0, before falling to NJAC rivals Rutgers Camden, 0-2 and Montclair State, 0-1. Ramapo was awarded the #5 seed in the 2007 ECAC Metro Division III Championships.  They played host to #4 New York University on November 7th, coming out on top with a 2-1 victory in the opening round. The Roadrunners traveled to #1 Stevens for a semi-final match up where they fell short, 1-3, to wrap up the 2007 season.

The Roadrunners were led by rookie Melissa Demko’s 12 goals on the year. She also added one assist for 25 points while fellow rookie Kimberly Bruno netted ten goals and picked up three assists for 23 points.  Senior Chrissy Giordano recorded four goals and five assists, first on the team, and sophomore goalkeeper Jessica DaRold recorded over 1,900 minutes in front of the net posting a 1.55 goals against average.  She recorded 97 saves with eight shutouts on the year.

The Roadrunners will return all but six to their 2008 roster. CONGRATULATIONS and good luck to seniors Jessica Giordano, Dena Gitto, Ellyn Ultz, Brianne McCully, Chrissy Giordano and Erin Stern.

CONGRATULATIONS on a job well done!
