Entering his ninth season at the helm of the Roadrunner softball program, Coach Allen added coaching softball, a long time passion of his, to his long list of duties at the college.
After returning from the teams annual Spring Break trip to Orlando, Florida in 1999, Coach Allen was named interim head coach, with a record of 2-8. The Roadrunners finished the season 20-17, with an 18-9 record under the leadership of Coach Allen. For his outstanding team turn-around, Coach Allen was named head coach of the softball program. Just one year later he led his team to a 21-16 overall record, 6-2 in the NJAC Blue Division and a berth in the NJAC Championship Tournament.
During his eight years as head coach of the softball team, Coach Allen has posted a 224-99 overall record while earning a 87-35 conference record. In 2003, his team hosted the NCAA East Region Tournament for the first time in the school’s history while recording the best overall and conference records in school history at 33-7 and 18-0 going undefeated in the NJAC. The following season Allen led his team to a second NCAA East Region appearance with a 35-8 overall record, 15-3 in the NJAC. Ramapo hosted the tournament for the second straight year. Last year, Coach Allen’s team set new milestones for the Ramapo softball program. After earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament, the Roadrunners defeated Moravian, 6-5, to earn the program’s first ticket to the Division III World Series, being named Atlantic Region Champions. Ramapo pounded out eight homeruns in the regional tournament helping them to earn their crown. Ramapo’s historic season came to an end as they were defeated by #5 Ithaca in the NCAA DIII World Series, 3-5.
Aside from coaching softball, Coach Allen also serves as an Assistant Athletic Director for Ramapo’s Athletic Department.
He resides in Clifton with his wife Diana and five children.
Maryann Goodwin - ASSISTANT COACH
Entering her eighth year on Coach Allen's staff, Coach Goodwin will serve as the Roadrunners pitching coach.
Coach Goodwin is also the Head Coach of the Pequannock High School girls varsity softball team and Head Coach of the West Essex girls soccer team. She coaches against Coach Allen during the summer in the Clifton Recreation League. Coach Goodwin also gives individual pitching clinics.
Coach Goodwin resides in Wayne with her husband Scott and their three daughters.
Ed Micklos - ASSISTANT COACH
Ed Micklos is entering his sixth season on Coach Allen’s staff. Coach Ed is also head coach of the Rage 18 U softball team that he has coached for the past five years. Along with coaching the Rage, he was the assistant high school softball coach at Tuxedo High School and spent two years as head coach for the Rockland Stix summer tournament team.
Currently Coach Ed is the hitting instructor for a sports complex in Congers, NY and gives private hitting and pitching lessons in Orange County, NY.
He previously pitched competitive softball for 25 years with various leagues and teams and is presently a member of the Rockland County Softball Hall of Fame.
Ed currently resides in Tuxedo, NY with his wife JoAnn and daughter Michelle.
Sal Anzaldi - ASSISTANT COACH
Coach Sal Anzaldi enters his seventh year on Coach Allen’s staff. Prior to coming to Ramapo Coach Anzaldi was an assistant coach at Clifton High School.
Coach Anzaldi has extensive experience as a tournament summer softball coach and has coached with the well known Charmer Softball Team for the past 11 years.
Coach Anzaldi has also spent time coaching at the national level in ASA, NSA, and AFA tournaments.
