Gary Orr - HEAD COACH

Coach Gary Orr returns to his alma mater to lead the once proud Ramapo Swimming Program.  It has been 20 years since swimming was part of the athletic landscape of Ramapo College and Coach Orr is very motivated to reestablish the team.  He brings 20 years of experience,ranging from age group swimmers to masters swimmers. Most recently Coach Orr has led two different NJ Masters Swimming Programs to five NJ State Championships, including two individual world masters champions.

Along with his swimming experience,Coach Orr has an impressive triathlon coaching resume. He has created, established and coaches a highly successful triathlon training program,with athletes ranging from age group, junior, elite and professional tri-athletes. Coach Orr is a tri-athlete himself, being a three time finisher of the Iron Man National Championships in Lake Placid, NY.

Coach Orr is a 1983 graduate of Ramapo College with a degree in Business Administration.  He was a former varsity swimmer and captain his senior year.  Some of his accomplishments include: Team record holder in the 200, 500, 1000, 1650 Freestyle and 400 IM,  Metropolitan Conference Champion – 1650 Freestyle (1980), Pool Record Holder – Iona College – 1650 (1980), Sports Council Representative for the Swim Team (Sophomore & Junior Year), President Sports Council (Senior Year).

It was said by former Ramapo Swim Coach Dave Turnage that "Gary was my first major recruit which has added credibility to the program.  "This in turn opened the doors to additionalhigh profile recruits to keep the momentum of the team rolling."

Coach Orr currently resides in West Milford, NJ. He enjoys life with his wife Danah, and spending as much time as possible with his daughters, Mackenzie (age 9) and Ryleigh (age 18 months).

"Skip" Storch - ASSSTANT COACH 

Skip Storch, Ramapo College class of 1980, was on the original swim club in 1977. He excelled as a distance swimmer and since graduating has gone on to set world records in open water marathon swimming. Skip has been the subject of numerous documentary films books and years of world wide attention for his swimming adventures. He has a unique understanding of bodies in motion and fluid dynamics. His cross-training techniques and physiological conditioning will be an asset for swimmers to reach new goals.Coach Storch was inducted into the Ramapo College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007.
