2007 WOMEN'S TENNIS
SEASON REVIEW
8-7 OVERALL, 2-3 NJAC

The Ramapo College women’s tennis team finished their season 8-7 overall, 2-3 New Jersey Athletic Conference in the Fall of 2007. Ramapo opened the year facing the Devils of FDU-Florham posting a 6-3 victory. They followed with a home win over Baruch College, 7-2, before traveling to NCAA Division II Dowling College, where they fell short, 1-8.  The Lady Roadrunners swept SUNY Purchase, 9-0, on September 17th before posting their first two NJAC wins of the season.  The Roadrunners defeated Kean University, 8-1 and swept William Paterson, 9-0 on the road, to improve to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The team picked up a non-conference sweep over NCAA Division II Caldwell College, posting their sixth win of the 2007 season. A non-conference loss on the road at Mt. St. Mary dropped their record to 6-2, before the Roadrunners bounced back with a hard fought win over Adelphi, 5-4.  They picked up their eighth win of the season on the road at Western Connecticut, 8-1, before a bumpy road led them to five straight losses to wrap up the 2007 season at 8-7 overall.  The Roadrunners fell short to TCNJ, 0-9, Rutgers Newark, 4-5, and Stevens, 4-5, before a third conference loss to Stockton, 2-7, and a non-conference loss to Hunter, 3-6.

The Roadrunners saw individual singles success from senior Rebecca Drexl who went 10-2 on the season and 8-2 in her last ten matches. Juniors Liz Wyble and Jennifer Finaldi each went 10-5 on the season in singles match-ups.  The duo of Drexl and senior Ashley Wnek posted an 8-2 overall record in doubles action while Finaldi and senior Lindsay Gerhard finished 7-5 on the year.

The Roadrunners will return all but three to their 2008 roster.

CONGRATULATIONS and good luck to seniors Rebecca Drexl, Ashley Wnek and Lindsay Gerhard!
