LADY ROADRUNNERS PLACE FOURTH IN 2008 NJAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Toms River, NJ:  The Women’s track and field team finished with 90 points in the 2008 Indoor Track and Field Championships held at John Bennett Indoor Athletic Complex.  Junior Lynn St. Lawrence (Goshen, NY) captured first place in the pole vault with a mark of 3.35-meters which was also an ECAC Qualifying mark.

Rookies Kristen Klemic (Somers Point, NJ) and Sophia Davis (Elizabeth, NJ) finished in fourth, 7.58, and fifth place, 7.60, respectively in the 55-meter dash. Davis also placed third in the 400-meter dash in, 1:02.27.  The 4x200 relay team made up of Davis, Klemic, rookie Ashley Petty (East Orange, NJ) and St. Lawrence placed 4th overall with a time of 1:50.57.

Junior Amy Carlson (West Milford, NJ) placed fifth in the 3,000-meter run in 11:33.54 and third in the 5,000-meter run in, 18:56.65.  Sophomore Juliana DaCosta (Dumont, NJ) placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.60 meters, she also placed 6th in the long jump with a mark of 4.82 meters. DaCosta also 5th placed in the triple jump with a mark of 10.07 meters.

The 4x800 relay team made up of sophomore Lauren Conroy (Old Tappan, NJ), rookie Melissa Pepio (Howell, NJ), sophomore Linda Puntasecca (Wayne, NJ) and rookie Carlin Keil (Wayne, NJ) finished in second place with a time of 10:39.03.

The Roadrunners return to action this Friday, February 29th at the NYU Fast Track Invite at The Amory in New York.


JACKSON ELECTED USTFCCCA ATLANTIC REGION REPRESENTATIVE

Phoenix, AZ:  Head Coach Mike Jackson was recently elected as Atlantic Region Representative  at the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Convention which took place on December 16-20, 2007.  As region representative, Jackson is the point person for the Atlantic region, which covers all Division III programs in New Jersey and New York. Coach Jackson was voted unanimously by his peers and will serve a three year term.
