ROADRUNNERS CAPTURE SECOND PLACE IN 2008 NJAC TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Head Coach Mike Jackson named Men’s Coach of the Year

Toms River, NJ:  The men’s indoor track and field team finished with 126 points good enough for 2nd place in the 2008 Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the John Bennett Indoor Athletic Complex.

Junior Steve Logan (Sayreville, NJ) won the 3,000-meter race in an ECAC Qualifying time of 8.44.71.  Rookie Chris Zeigler (Ridgewood, NJ) placed first in the 55-meter dash with ECAC Qualifying time of 6.52 while junior captain Matt St. Germain (North Arlington, NJ) finished right behind him in second place with a time of 6.58.  Senior Carlos Amarilla (Bernardsville, NJ) placed fourth in the 55 meter-dash in, 6.62.

Rookie Evan Shaker (Clifton, NJ) placed third in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.06 while rookie Jared Washington (Roselle, NJ) finished first in the triple jump with a mark of 13.35 meters, which was also an ECAC Qualifying mark. Junior Shaquan Brown (Paterson, NJ) finished first in the 400-meter race with a time of 50.64, an ECAC Qualifying time. In the men’s 5,000-meter run Jon Lindenauer (Morganville, NJ) placed third with a time of 15:53.52. Junior Shane Donohue (Freehold, NJ) placed third in the men’s high jump with a mark of 1.95 meters while Brown placed fourth with a mark of 1.90 meters.

The 4x200 relay team made up of Zeigler, St. Germain, sophomore Jack Stass (Westwood, NJ) and Amarilla placed second overall in 1:30.84. The 4x400 relay team made up of Stass, junior Josh Simmons (Hackensack, NJ), St. Germain and Brown placed second in 3:26.89.

Head Coach Mike Jackson was awarded 2008 Men’s Coach of the Year after leading the Roadrunners to a second-place finish.

The Roadrunners return to action this Friday, February 29th at the NYU Fast Track Invite at The Amory in New York.


JACKSON ELECTED USTFCCCA ATLANTIC REGION REPRESENTATIVE

Phoenix, AZ:  Head Coach Mike Jackson was recently elected as Atlantic Region Representative  at the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Convention which took place on December 16-20, 2007.  As region representative, Jackson is the point person for the Atlantic region, which covers all Division III programs in New Jersey and New York. Coach Jackson was voted unanimously by his peers and will serve a three year term.
