Art and Technology Concentration (CA): Home

The Art and Technology concentration is an interdisciplinary path of study in the arts with a commitment to the integration of technology with art and culture.

All levels of classes focus on technological investigations which promote creativity and combine the areas of video, animation, social and electronic interactivity and language to expand ideas of artistic creation. These specialized courses allow students to experiment in class with a wide range of cutting edge tools for animation and interactivity. In Addition, students are presented with opportunities for participating in fieldwork, internships, and competitions in New York City and nationally.

By focusing on and achieving a meaningful equilibrium between art-making and technical professions, students are able to juxtapose two dynamic processes and expand both their professional skills and artistic development. This is evident in the quality of reels and portfolios that allow many of our graduates to move on to graduate school, the professional art world, and prepare them for work in animation, motion graphics, and other exciting production fields.

The liberal arts context of the Art and Technology program encourages collaboration between students in the areas of digital photography, modeling, animation, lighting, video production, installation, music and sound design as well as programming for interactivity. This approach makes the study and practice of Art ad Technology relevant to non-majors as well as majors.

The Art and Technology concentration within the Visual Arts major leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree.

What is a Concentration?

A concentration is a focus on a more targeted field of the major. Some majors have concentrations in which you choose your course of study. These majors include Business Administration, Communication Arts, Music, and Social Science.
