A. Assures that the student employee has been processed appropriately through the Student Assistant Program BEFORE allowing a student to begin work.

B. Completes all necessary paperwork: Employment Form, Agreement, Evaluations, Terminations as required and when due.

C. Reviews on-line time sheets for accuracy; approves as appropriate.

D. Trains the student in position duties and responsibilities.

E. Supervises the student responsibly.

F. If dissatisfied with student performance, warns student that behavior (punctuality, work performance, etc.) must be improved in order to retain position.

G. Ensures that the student does not work for more hours per week than permitted: fifteen (15) hours maximum while school is in session and thirty-five (35) hours maximum during breaks and vacation. However, the hours to be worked should be less if a student's course schedule does not permit maximum workload.

H. Monitors unit budget allocation to ensure that the allocated amount is not overspent.

I. Terminates a student if necessary with appropriate form when employment ends.

J. Unless termination is for cause, wherever possible gives the student two weeks notice.

K. In case of supervisor's absence or vacation, arranges for alternative supervision and assures that someone in the unit reviews and approves on-line time sheets to initiate payment.

L. Enforces requirement that a student already employed on campus must give a minimum of two weeks notice to current supervisor before starting a new position.

M. Evaluates student performance at end of academic year.

Student Responsibilities

A. Understands a semester-long commitment is made upon job acceptance.

B. Arranges mutually satisfying work schedule with supervisor.

C. Reports to work on time and according to agreed upon schedule.

D. Adheres to the fifteen (15) hours per week maximum while classes are in session; thirty-five (35) hours during breaks and vacation with supervisor's permission.

E. Requests excused absence when planning to miss work.

F. Performs all aspects of the job to the best of his/her ability.

G. Acts in a professional manner regarding confidentiality.

H. Completes required training.

I. Follows unit sign-in and sign-out procedures and records hours worked on College's web-based on-line time reporting system.

J. Discusses all job related problems with the supervisor. If problem cannot be resolved, speaks to Student Assistant Program Assistant Director for assistance with resolution.

K. Gives supervisor at least two weeks notice prior to leaving.
