Job Categories

PLEASE NOTE: If you have been awarded Federal Work-Study as part of your financial aid award, you bring your own salary to the position and have a wide range of choices among campus jobs. Come to the Student Assistant Program in the Cahill Center, C-209, to choose the positions to which you wish to be referred.
If you have completed a FAFSA, you may put your name on a list for a Federal Work-Study position as long as funds are available. Come to the Student Assistant Program in the Cahill Center, C-209, to have your name added to the list.
Student aide positions are more difficult to obtain and are often skill-related and for specific hours a unit is trying to fill. The funding for these positions comes from the individual unit allocations. You may complete an application in the Student Assistant Office which campus employers review when seeking employees. Please be aware that units often wait to see if previous trained student workers are returning before offering positions each semester. Not all positions are filled each semester. In addition to these listed positions, faculty and staff obtain grants throughout the academic year which include student positions. These positions will be added as we receive them.
The Cahill Center also lists hundreds of jobs that are offered off campus for students with transportation. Many of these are close to the College.
Federal Work Study / Community Service

Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a federally funded program. Students who are United States citizens or permanent resident aliens may apply and be awarded federal work-study that is based on financial need. FWS students may then earn up to the award specified by the Financial Aid Office in its award letter for the academic year.
Receipt of Federal Work-Study is solely a need-based award determined when U.S. citizens and permanent resident aliens annually file a Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or an application for federal financial assistance. Ramapo's Office of Financial Aid packages and notifies all students of their FWS award and together with the Student Assistant Program monitors their earnings. Students are referred to the Student Assistant Program for unit placement based upon student interests and skills as well as position availability.
Community Service - Federal Work-Study recipients who can provide their own transportation are invited to explore off-campus placements at community service agencies. These positions (up to twenty hours weekly) can prove to be personally enriching while providing exposure to professional contacts that may be beneficial in furthering career goals.
Off-campus job opportunities at community service agencies can be arranged through the FWS/Community Service coordinator located in the Cahill Center, C-209. There is a financial incentive to compensate for the additional costs of transportation to off campus locations.
National Student Employment Week

The Ramapo College administration, staff and faculty thank all of our student workers for their outstanding contributions to the Ramapo College Community.
The National Student Employment Association has declared the second complete week in April each year to be set aside to honor student workers all over the United States. During this week these students are nationally recognized for their professionalism, initiative, and hard work.
Students on Call

"Students-On-Call" --a temporary on-campus employment program that places students in units on an "as needed" basis. Typical placements could be for emergency office coverage, mailings, special projects, etc. Application is made through the Student Assistant Program in Room C-209.
