Job Title: Audiovisual Technician
Unit: Academic Media Services
Reports to: Jefferson Sampson

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver, set up and retrieve audiovisual equipment including (but not limited to) LCD projectors with computers, DVD players, TVs, CD players, slide projectors, audio conference phones, etc.
  • Deliver, set up and operate and return Audio Systems including microphones and sound systems for campus events
  • Deliver, set up, operate and retrieve camcorders and tripods to record events on campus and class presentations
  • Troubleshoot equipment and notify appropriate professional staff of equipment difficulties
  • Answer telephone and greet walk-ins in a courteous manner

Other Responsibiities:

  • Assist on special projects
  • Provide coverage of media center
  • Take technical messages and relay messages to the appropriate person
  • Run errands as needed on campus
  • Assist other staff members as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety Specialist
Unit: Administration and Compliance
Reports to: Gina Mayer-Costa

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete checklists to identify potential hazards in custodial closets, halls, storage rooms, and utility rooms.
  • Establish and maintain a database of accidents, fire alarms, and fire drills.
  • Create graphs to determine potential accident trends, fire alarm malfuntions.
  • Assist with fire drills and evacuation procedures in academic buildings and dormitories.
  • Assist in the development of a web page.

Other Responsibiities:

  • Assist in conducting indoor air quality surveys
  • Assist with material safety data sheet management
  • Answer telephone and file information as needed

Skills:

  • Computer use (Word, Excel, Web Page Design preferred but not required)
  • Good communication and inter-personal skills
  • Follow verbal and written instructions

Job Title: Video Technician
Unit: Athletics
Reports to: Appropriate Team Coach

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Video tape home and away games or matches
  • Make sure equipment is in working order
  • Report all malfunctions in equipment to equipment manager and coach
  • Pack, unpack, setup and breakdown equipment for each game or match

Other Responsibiities:

  • Come dressed apporpriately to travel with teams to scheduled contests

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of video equipment
  • Knowledge of sport taping

Job Title: Production Assistant
Unit: Berrie Center
Reports to: Edouard Eloi

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist technical director in preparing Berrie Center performance spaces for events.
  • Duties may include:
    • House managing.
    • Ushering.

Job Title: Equipment/Facility Assistant
Unit: CA/Equipment Facility
Reports to: Paul Pittman

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain presence in office, studios while working
  • Supervise and assist in editing room/TV studio/audio studio during classes of assigned lab hours
  • Answer any questions about equipment,  procedures, usage, and lab hours

Other Responsibiities:

  • Reserve equipment for students, teachers, classes, projects
  • Keep records of equipment sign out and sign in
  • Basic office knowledge

Skills:

  • Knowledge or willingness to learn video cameras, TV studio and audio studio equipment
  • Willing to work and learn
  • Occasional lifting or transporting of video/audio gear (10-30 lbs)
  • Prefer CA student but not required

Job Title: Photo Lab Assistant
Unit: Darkroom
Reports to: Stephanie Bursese

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Check out darkroom equipment.
  • Mix and maintain photographic chemicals.
  • Notify supervisor of status of supplies and equipment.
  • Advise students about correct procedures for developing black and white film and making prints.
  • Maintain a harmonious working atmosphere in the darkroom.
  • Keep darkroom and equipment clean and in good order.

Other Responsibiities:

  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of basic black and white photographic procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate this knowledge to others.

Job Title: Web Aide
Unit: Enrollment Management
Reports to: Ellen Saranovic

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with Ramapo Web Development Team using both creative and technical skills
  • Participate in the continued development and implementation of the Ramapo College web site
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the Internet
  • Familiarity with Go Live or Dreamweaver
  • Familiarity with Photoshop, Flash, Fireworks
  • Ability to create web sites with text, graphics and photos

Other Responsibilities:

  • FTPing documents
  • Verifying web pages on line
  • Monitoring pages
  • Generate Enrollment Management reports

Skills:

  • Skills needed:
    • Computer literacy on PC or Macintosh
    • Familiarity with HTML
  • Skills preferred:
    • FTP
    • Ability to use an editor to create web pages
    • Ability to scan
    • Image editing software (e.g. Photoshop)

Job Title: Technical Assistant
Unit: Governor's School
Reports to: Jeremy Geller

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide internet access, general hardware and general software support to in-residence scholars and Resident Teaching Assistants
  • Serve as the primary technical support contact during UN Conferences held throughout the program
  • Provide set hours of on-site support
  • Troubleshoot problems

Other Responsibiities:

  • Hold keys to the spare parts room which included spare computer, printers, computer parts, toner and paper

Skills:

  • Proficient in computers--both hardware and software
  • Proficient with Internet access+

Job Title: Computer Lab Assistant
Unit: ITS
Reports to: Academic Computing Coordinator

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Help faculty, staff, and students understand and use hardware and software in campus computing facilities.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems.
  • Provide routine site maintenance.
  • Respond to Help Desk and support staff requests where possible.

Other Responsibiities:

  • May specialize by working with staff in UNIX programming, LAN management, telecommunications and voice services, multimedia, and technical support.

Skills:

  • Minimum of 2.0 GPA
  • Free from academic or student conduct policy probation.
  • Completed at least one college-level Computer Science or Information Processing course or have significant computing background.
  • Willingness to undertake service to various clients with consideration and courtesy.

Job Title: Desktop Support Technician
Unit: ITS
Reports to:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Works under the direction of the Help Desk/Microcomputer Coordinator
  • Assists in maintaining the college's microcomputer hardware and software
  • Assist in the creation of standard software images for each PC on campus and updating image as required
  • Assist in the facilitation of Help Desk activities

Other Responsibiities:

Qalifications:

  • Must be a full-time junior or senior in good academic standing (Min GPA 2.5)
  • Must have at least three semester of experience providing desktop support

Skills:

  • Required demonstrated proficiency in microcomputer hardware/software troubleshooting and repair
  • Skills required in DOS, NT and TCP/IP
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and experience in installing and using various software applications as required

Job Title: Networking
Unit: ITS
Reports to:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise ResNET support staff.
  • Work closely with ITSmember that oversee operations.
  • Assists in maintaining Novell and NT servers.
  • Maintain classroom LAN facilities software, hardware, and networking capabilities.
  • Roll out new software and upgrades.
  • Assist in the installation, configurtion, and maintenance of the college LANs

Other Responsibiities:

Qualifications: 

  • Must be a full-time junior or senior in good academic standing (Min. GPA 2.5)
  • Must have at least three semester of experience providing Local Area Network support at Ramapo College

Skills:

  • Required demonstrated proficiency in Novell 3.X - 5.X administration
  • Additional skills required in TCPIP, IPX ZEN System Policies, DOS and NT and hardware troubleshooting
  • LAN administrative skills a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office application and experience in installing and using WEB based applications required


Job Title: ResNET Support Staff

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for receiving, documenting, and providing telephone and in-person support.

Skills:

  • At least 2 semesters as a lab assistant, senior tech, TEC consultant, or network task force member.
  • Able to work on a rotating basis.

Job Title: Technology and Education Center (TEC) Specialist
Unit: ITS
Reports to: Scotty Massimo

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain databases.
  • Design and develop Web pages for ITS, the TEC, and the TLTR.
  • Digitize slides, photographs, other images.
  • Burn CDs
  • Manage oversized documents for scanning and printing.
  • Scan printed materials  for word processing and worksheet production.
  • Assist faculty with WebCT course development.
  • Work with faculty to implement TLTR grants.
  • Install/upgrade a variety of peripherals and related software.
  • Take pictures with digital cameras, download images, and post for viewing.

Job Title: Helpdesk Student Aide
Unit: ITS
Reports to:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Answer phones
  • Log calls into helpdesk database
  • Go to client's office and assist with various PC issues

Other Responsibiities:

  • Assist techs when needed (special projects, inventory control, etc)
  • Client PC equipment moves/ equipment breakdowns

Skills:

  • Knowledge of microsoft and other common desktop applications
  • Knowledge of printers
  • Basic PC troubleshooting skills
  • Attention to details

  • Good analytical skills

Job Title: ELF Lab Assistant
Unit: Library
Reports to: Galina Curry

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist patrons with library databases, e-reserves, internet, email and other problems regarding software applications
  • Assist patrons in printing jobs and use of of Print Release station; delete print jobs in the network print queue as necessary
  • Enforce lab policies; monitor/prevent the consumption of food and drink, as well as use of cell phones
  • Keep lab area neat and tidy by straightening chairs, throwing out scrap papers, picking up books and discs left in the lab and taking them back to the Circ. Desk, etc.
  • Maintain printer by adding paper, changing toner, clearing jams, etc.
  • Maintain a log of paper consumption, toner change, major repairs of ELF printer, etc.
  • Implement ELF opening and closing procedures as necessary

Other Responsibiities:

  • Answer questions regarding ELF hours, policy, etc.
  • Keep ELF cabinet stocked with copier paper
  • Perform other duties as needed

Skills:

  • Excellent computer skills
  • Must be dependable and have ability to interact with library users
  • Must be able to enforce lab policies
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision

Job Title: Computer Lab Assistant
Unit: Specialized Services
Reports to: Elizabeth Jocham

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Help OSS students understand and use hardware and software in computing facilities
  • Provide routine site maintenance

  • Must be able to keep confidential those matters concerning student disabilities

Job Title: SA Design Assistant
Unit: Student Development
Reports to: Mandy Restivo

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Works with Luminis including development of Luminis web sites
  • Assist recognized and registered organizations, faculty and staff with the development of online applications such as Scholarship and Study Abroad applications, Election/balloting software for annual elections, etc.
  • Maintain and update duty assignment software for OCA's

Other Responsibiities:

  • Dissemination of campus-wide event information for the student community through:
    • Posting or supervision of posting on the outdoor Route 202 and SAPB sign boards
    • Posting and/or supervision of a posting staff responsible for bulleting board maintenance in academic wings
    • Updating of event and calendar information on WORD, Campus Vision, Channel 3
  • Assisting college offices with developing:
    • Posters and flyers
    • External chalking and subsequent removal of such announcements
  • Maintain regular aspects of office operation

Skills:

  • Computer programming experience with C++
  • Experience with such interned coding products as xml, asp and php
  • Extensive (at least 2 years) experience with interactive internet applications such as Dreamweaver and Flash animation
  • Experience with online databases such as Oracle
