Attention Seniors
Fall 2009 On Campus Interview Schedule
Each fall the Cahill Center facilitates on campus recruitment activities for employers wishing to interview and hire senior students into full time professional positions upon May graduation. Predominately in the fields of finance and accounting these early opportunities are standard practice in these industries and require a set of policies to insure fair and equitable opportunities for senior students pursuing positions in these fields. Activities include but are not limited to On Campus Interviewing and Resume Drops. All senior students wanting to participate in these activities must abide by the following procedures.
On Campus Interviews (Pre-select Interviews)
Employers coordinate with the Cahill Center and schedule a specific day to visit campus to conduct interviews. Scheduled employers will select candidates based upon resumes submitted prior to their campus visit.
Seniors wishing to be considered for an interview must:
- Attend an orientation session scheduled by the Cahill Center or meet with a Career Services staff member.
- Submit his/her resume via the Cahill Job Bank by the scheduled due date.
- Apply for each opportunity/company they would like to be considered for.
- Be contacted by a Cahill staff member or employer directly for time of interview.
- Keep the Cahill Center informed of all aspects of the recruitment process including interview times, job offers and any acceptance of a position.
An employer may elect to visit campus prior to the interview day to meet interested candidates and share company and employment information (Information Sessions, Meet & Greet events, Panels/workshops, etc.). All students, regardless of whether they are eligible to participate in the interview process, are encouraged to attend. This is an excellent opportunity to gain information and begin career and company research.
Resume Drops
Employers who are unable to schedule a campus visit coordinate with the Cahill Center to receive resumes in consideration of positions. Employers will receive a bundle of resumes directly from the Cahill Center. Seniors wishing to participate in resume drops should:
- Attend an orientation session scheduled by the Cahill Center or meet with a Career Services staff member
- Submit his/her resume via the Cahill Job Bank by the scheduled due date
- Apply for each opportunity/company they would like to be considered for
- Be contacted directly by the employer to schedule an interview at their location of business.
- Keep the Cahill Center informed of all aspects of the recruitment process including interview times, job offers and any acceptance of a position.
Job Offers
The Cahill Center works closely with employers recruiting on campus to ensure that employers provide accurate information on their organization, employment opportunities, and compensation packages when extending an offer. Employing organizations are responsible for information supplied and commitments made by their representatives. Employers are expected to refrain from placing undue pressure on candidates to accept the job, including, but not limited to, rescission of offer or bonus if not accepted in less than a two-week time frame. Career Services asks that employers provide a reasonable time for acceptance of offers extended to candidates. Usually this would be a minimum of two weeks with no candidate given less than ten (10) business days to make a decision on an offer. However, during the fall semester we ask employers recruiting for accounting and finance seniors to give a December 1 deadline for acceptance of a job offer.
Upon accepting an employment offer contact the Cahill Center. We encourage you to review all employment contracts carefully before signing. Acceptance of a position successfully terminates your participation in on campus recruitment. Continuation of the interview process after accepting an offer is unethical.
We wish you the best of luck in your future!
