The major goals of the Department of Human Resources are to assist management in the most effective use of our human resources, and to maximize the potential of those who work for us. We provide the full spectrum of personnel services to faculty and staff in order to support the mission of the College while providing value to each individual. We support the College's commitment to cultural diversity through efforts to recruit and retain a diverse population. By providing training and development opportunities, we support our employees’ ability to succeed in a complex and changing environment. The Department fosters a sense of community, and a welcoming campus environment.

Beatrice Cronin is responsible for developing and interpreting policies related to employment. She provides oversight for employment and staffing, organizational development and training, classification, compensation, and labor relations (CWA, IFPTE). She is involved with legal issues, discipline and grievances (non-AFT), and the classified staff performance appraisal systems.
Stephen Roma provides general oversight to various department activities such as employment/staffing, classification and compensation, performance and disciplinary matters. He has primary responsibility for information technology and information system management, and manages specific programs such as programming and training.
Nancy Boone is responsible for personnel records administration, human resource information system integrity, and personnel action processing. Nancy is responsible for the maintenance of the official College employee records and relevant data in accordance with State retention guidelines. She provides free notary service for the College.
Jill Brown is responsible for employee benefits administration, including employee counseling, and benefits orientation and education. She provides assistance to supervisors and employees regarding medical issues, retirements, leaves of absence, and attendance problems. Jill delivers financial planning seminars, and is liaison to the pension plan vendors.
Roger Jans manages all recruitment activities for classified and unclassified staff, and assists with the search process for faculty. Roger assists the Director with staffing issues and classification matters. He is the College’s liaison to the State with regard to “Civil Service” procedures and State employment records for classified staff.
Johnie Burton assists with employee benefits administration, and is responsible for coordinating workers’ compensation and sick leave injury claims, new hire input, benefits and pension reporting, and the State information system.
Sara Gazzillo serves as the Human Resources unit secretary, and is responsible for coordinating all clerical functions for the office. She is responsible for the unit budget and performs the purchasing function for the unit. Sara coordinates the service awards program and writes the HR newsletter. She provides support for various programs including tuition reimbursement and staff training requests.
Elaine Harm is the initial contact for general assistance or information. She is responsible for assisting with the recruitment and hiring process and coordinates training activities. Elaine provides support for various programs including tuition waiver, performance evaluations and working test periods for classified staff, online telephone directory information, and temporary employment agency tasks.
