Web Services: CMS UPDATE BRIEF

CMS EDITOR

There are some differences between the old and the new CMS editor. The new editor is fully browser-based so there is no need to install any plugin. The CMS system can be used from any computer without the need for ITS support. It is also platform and browser independent, meaning that users can login and us the system from PC or MAC using Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari.

LAYOUT

There are some layout differences between the editors (see image) and some changes in the way the users interact with, fonts, tables and forms.

Old and New CMS editor

FONTS

The fonts size drop down changed in the new editor and now displays the approximate size of the text with a numeric value.

TABLE

The old table button was replaced with a table toolbar containing the basic table functions (adding rows and columns, etc.). In addition, the table toolbar simplifies adding a new table to the content, similar to the way WORD handles tables, by providing access to table wizard.

FORMS

Working with forms is a bit different from the previous version. Adding new form elements is easier with the inclusion of a forms toolbar. To edit any existing form fields select the field and then click on the appropriate icon on the forms toolbar. See image for more details.
