India 1

India is the seventh-largest country in the world and the second most populous. A study abroad program in India will expose you to a fascinating culture, ancient architecture and the amazing history of a country that has been growing and evolving on its own, because it hasn't invaded another country in the past 10,000 years. Plus, watch the very idea of color come alive as more vibrant tones than you ever imagined jump out at you from every shirt, building and flower. Mark Twain said that, "India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend and the great-grandmother of tradition." He wasn't exaggerating, either, and as you study abroad in India, you'll find that out for yourself.

Japan

Once sealed off from the outside world, Japan is now one of the world's most developed nations, inextricably bound to its global economy and contemporary culture. This unique history has produced some startling contrasts: 180 mph bullet trains and traditional tea ceremonies, the towering skyscrapers of Shinjuku and the peace of a Zen garden. Comprised of four main islands-Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku, Japan draws thousands of students to its shores each year. Whether it is nature or culture you want, a study abroad program in Japan brims with both: mountains and volcanoes, temples and parks, islands and beaches, and architecture and museums. Experience this fascinating land and earn a top-notch education.

With its beautiful landscape, fantastic weather and friendly people, New Zealand rolls out the welcome mat for international students. An independent Commonwealth nation, New Zealand is known as one of the least-congested countries in the world, making it a prime environment for peace and relaxation. Diversity is key in New Zealand, evident in both its landscapes and people. Its population of more than four million includes residents of British descent, as well as the indigenous Maori people. New Zealand provides a premier location for students studying the natural sciences and ecology, as about 30 percent of the country's land area is protected for conservation. In addition, students will have access to wildlife sanctuaries, 13 national parks, and hundreds of ecological areas.

The Russian Federation, known more commonly as Russia, spans two continents and has a total land mass nearly twice the size of the United States. It should be no surprise that Russia's massive size is matched by a fascinating history and culture, catering to a range of academic interests. Though Moscow is the official capital, a common Russian saying suggests the country has two - Moscow for government and state affairs and St. Petersburg for culture and art. Most students study abroad in one of these two main cities where the majority of Russia's 48 major universities are located. Whether your interests lie in literature, politics, architecture, religion, language, science, art or history, Russia's dynamic political history, fine universities and rich culture make it an ideal study abroad destination. And don't worry, warm Russian hospitality offsets the chilly winter weather.
