Platinum Series

Platinum Series Grant Application 

The Office of Student Development is currently accepting grant applications for Spring 2010 Platinum Series. Sponsored through the Office of Student Development Platinum Series is designed to complement academia by providing intellectually challenging and enriching programs, as well as opportunities to experience the arts and other forms of creative expression. A key component of the series is the partnership between faculty and the Student Development staff in creating these programs. The intent of this series is that offered programs take place outside class time, and are open to all students. Special consideration will be given to trips that occur on the weekends.

Five - ten per semester.

Assistance with any and all logistical and administrative tasks including room booking, travel arrangements, contracts, payment, advertisement, and staffing.

Faculty commitment: Must agree to fill out the Student Development Platinum Series Information Form, complete a learning objective for the program, and distribute and collect questionnaires. All events must be open to the student body.

No Deadline. These funds are for programs that could not have been planned in advance, such as small art exhibitions or performances, unanticipated author lectures, etc.

Limited based on budget availability.

Student Development staff will provide guidance on how to carry-out logistical and administrative tasks.

Faculty must be willing to do the logistical work themselves with limited assistance from Student Development staff. Must agree to fill out the Student Development Platinum Series Information Form, complete a learning objective for the program, and distribute and collect questionnaires. All events must be open to the student body.

Priorities

  • Projects that provide out-of-class opportunities for students to interact with faculty.

  • Projects that have a campus-wide impact and are available to all students.

  • Projects that complement the academic curriculum and enhance the quality of academia on campus.

  • Projects that clearly identify and outline a learning objective for the campus community.

  • Interdisciplinary projects that involve faculty or students from more than one school.

General Guidelines for preparing your application

  • Your application will be given the best evaluation if a detailed budget is included.

  • Your application should include information regarding what makes this event unique and how it will enhance the campus community.

  • Your program should support the mission of the college and the mission of the Student Development Platinum Series.

Funding Limitations 

  • All events/lectures must be open to the campus community. 

  • No stipends will be paid to individual staff/faculty due to the ethics code. 

Application Process

Requests will not be reviewed unless the application is complete and received by Friday, December 4, 2009. You will receive written notification regarding your request once all applications have been reviewed. Please note that the Platinum Series Spring schedule will be finalized prior to the start of school in January.

Final Report 

You must submit completed evaluation forms of the program to the Student Development staff. A sample of the evaluation will be provided to you before the start of your event. A one paragraph executive summary outlining the success of the program must be submitted upon project completion.
