Students in the School of Theoretical and Applied Science have opportunities to conduct research with faculty mentors in every discipline represented in the School. Research can register for independent studies, or TAS Research Honors (for 2 semester of longer projects). Students can present the results of their research both off-campus and at the TAS Student Research Symposium held every April.
TAS Research Honors Program
The TAS Research Honors program enables students to undertake research projects with faculty advisors. There is a 2-semester commitment for this program (although projects can continue for up to 4 semesters). In order to receive Research Honors, students must complete a manuscript, and present the results of their research at the TAS Student Research Symposium and at an off-campus venue.
TAS Student Research Symposium
The Student Research Symposium, held every April, is an opportunity for TAS research students to showcase their research. Students can present their research in oral or poster format. The student research is often conducted within the Research Honors program, but students have also presented research conducted for class projects or independent studies.
The 2009 TAS Student Research Symposium will be held on Wednesday April 21st in the Trustees Pavilion.
